Waste Collection Survey

June 2015: Camden Council is giving serious consideration to making an alternative weekly collection of non-recyclable waste

In plain language this is fortnightly black bag /non-recyclable bin collections, while keeping weekly recyclable bin collections.

The plan is to drive up recycling, which is important for climate change, sustainability and also for budgetary reasons. Like most boroughs Camden needs to save significant funds going forward.

As part of the cuts programme Camden has decided to try to save £5million on the waste contract when it retenders later this year.

Belsize residents are extremely concerned about the public health implications of less frequent waste collections.

There is a real fear of increased numbers of foxes and rats in our densely populated areas. Many residents have also reported they found the consultation from Camden misleading.

One resident contacted me with an
alternative questionnaire – here is the link

This survey asks more direct questions and I urge as many people as possible to complete the survey. I believe answers to this alternative consultation will give Camden a much better understanding of the strength of feeling on this issue.
